Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) has called off plans to retire the DHC-8-Q200 aircraft operated by its subsidiary Flugfélag Íslands until at least 2030, having secured two domestic PSO routes for the type. The airline previously said that after the expansion of Greenland's airports, which are now capable of handling the DHC-8-Q400, it would not retain the Q200s for the single route to Isafjordur. However, it has also secured the PSO contract for Hornafjördur, which "created operational synergies and a stronger revenue base than relying on Isafjordur alone". Flugfélag Íslands currently operates three Q200s as well as three Q400s.
