Qantas Group and JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) have signed a binding agreement to restructure the ownership of Jetstar Japan (GK, Tokyo Narita), replacing Qantas with Development Bank of Japan through a share buyback. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close by June 2027. Qantas will divest its 33.3% stake, while JAL and Tokyo Century retain their current holdings. Jetstar Japan will adopt a new brand after the exit. Qantas expects an estimated AUD115 million Australian dollar (USD81 million) gain, mainly in its 2027 financial year, which ends June 2027.
