British Army-managed St Andrews Leuchars RAF airfield in Fife, on Scotland's east coast, will no longer be open to civilian traffic, including executive jets, following the retirement of the facility's primary and secondary radars on July 1 as part of a “long-planned change,” a Royal Air Force spokesperson said. “Consultation took place with all airspace stakeholders ahead of this change, and the small number of private air traffic can continue to use alternative locations. Military air traffic control across Scotland remains unaffected.”

Leuchars Station was used by business jets primarily carrying visitors attending golf events in St Andrews. In October 2025, UK minister of state at the Ministry of Defence, Luke Pollard, confirmed that 100 private aircraft had landed there since October 30, 2023. The ministry transferred Leuchars Station to the British Army in March 2015 as part of cost-cutting efforts within the Royal Air Force. The station currently hosts fixed-wing Grob 115E Tutor T.1s light training aircraft used by the army, navy, and air force.
