Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) believes it will have its entire grounded fleet active early in 2027, CEO George Kamal said at a press conference in Nairobi on August 19. "By January 2027, we expect to have the full Kenya Airways fleet back. Once we have our fleet back, we will be able to compete," he declared, alluding to the fact that about a third of the carrier’s fleet remains grounded. According to ch-aviation data, 10 of the airline's fleet of 35 aircraft are currently inactive.
Kamal further said that Kenya Airways also wants to add a second B777-300ER as well as two more B737-800s.
