Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) says it could save up to KES1 billion shillings (USD7.7 million) per B787-8 by performing heavy D-check maintenance in-house rather than outsourcing it. The carrier has completed its first two in-house D-checks on B787-8s and is working on a third. It currently operates nine of the type. The move supports plans to expand its MRO business, reduce downtime, and develop Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta into a regional MRO hub.
