Swiss (LX, Zurich) has confirmed it will retire its last A340-300 by early 2028 as it continues the gradual phaseout of the type that began with the introduction of its A350-900s last October. The Lufthansa Group subsidiary hopes to move the final A340-300 to the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne in early 2028. Group CCO Dieter Vranckx told ch-aviation in April that the group was looking to retire all old quadjets in the “next two to three years”. Swiss currently operates four A340-300s, with an average age of 22.9 years, ch-aviation data shows.
