The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) has placed an order with Textron Aviation for six King Air 260C Beech (twin turboprop)s as part of a fleet modernisation aimed at replacing its ageing King Air 200s. The first aircraft, fully equipped with an aeromedical system, is expected to be delivered in 2028, with the remaining five turboprops scheduled for delivery over the following four years.

The King Air 260C will offer improved performance, higher cruise speeds, and the latest avionics, navigation, and safety systems compared with the RFDS' current fleet of sixteen King Air 200s in standard and C variants. HeliMods will design and install the aeromedical systems for the new aircraft, having previously modified six King Air B360s for the RFDS, which operates a total of ten of the type.
