Proflight Zambia (P0, Lusaka) has confirmed it has taken delivery in Lusaka of three 29-seater BAe Jetstream 41 turboprops purchased from insolvent UK carrier Eastern Airways, expanding its fleet to 13 aircraft, now including seven J41s.
"The additional aircraft allow Proflight Zambia to add more frequency and capacity to its domestic network, supporting the airline’s efforts to improve connectivity, schedule reliability, and convenience for passengers. The additional aircraft also create the potential for new domestic and international routes next year. Crucially, the expanded fleet provides greater redundancy, which safeguards schedule reliability and passenger convenience," the airline said in a statement.
The three aircraft were placed on the Zambian register and issued with their 9J registrations before departing the United Kingdom. They were ferried over three days from Humberside in North Lincolnshire via Jersey, Djerba, Entebbe, to Lusaka, ADS-B data confirm.
The first aircraft, 9J-PCM (msn 41071), formerly G-MAJU, completed its ferry flight between August 24 and August 26. The second, 9J-PCN (msn 41099), formerly G-MAJY, departed the UK on August 29 to arrive in Zambia on August 31, and 9J-PCL (msn 41070), formerly G-MAJK, was ferried on September 3-5. The three aircraft are currently in the process of being added to Proflight Zambia's air operator's certificate (AOC), an airline source confirmed.
As previously reported, the airline had signed a letter of intent (LOI) earlier this year for the three J41s, aged between 29 and 31 years old. They were delivered new to ACA - Atlantic Coast Airlines, Trans States Airlines, and Manx Airlines, respectively. The rest of the J41 fleet comprises former Airlink (South Africa) aircraft.
Proflight also operates five 50-seater CRJ200s and one CRJ200LR(PF) parcel freighter, according to ch-aviation data.
