Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) has taken delivery of a new A321-200NX in a charter configuration, which is now being used to transport teams from the US National Basketball Association (NBA). The newly configured aircraft will ultimately replace B757-200s that have been used for this purpose.

In September 2024, the NBA reached an agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital for the lease of thirteen A321-200Ns with customised VIP interiors for charter flights, with Delta Air Lines set to operate the flights.

N701DH (msn 13110) began operating these charter flights on September 13, 2026, ADS-B data shows. The carrier has not yet received any of the twelve remaining aircraft. It already operates 103 A321-200NX in regular configuration.

According to ch-aviation fleets data, Delta operates ten B757-200s in charter configuration with 72 seats per plane. They are all owned by the company. In 2024, the airline inked a multiyear agreement with the US Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) to carry all 12 of the league’s teams.
