Sun PhuQuoc Airways (9G, Hanoi Noi Bai International) has taken delivery of its first A330-200, which is also its first widebody aircraft, VN-A969 (msn 1415), its parent Sun Group announced.

According to ADS-B flight-tracking data, the aircraft was ferried under the Sun PhuQuoc Airways callsign from Marana to Phu Quoc between September 20 and 22, 2026, with a single overnight stop at Osaka Kansai on September 21. The aircraft has been operating for Sun PhuQuoc Airways since September 23.

The 13.4-year-old, Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered widebody is configured for 247 passengers: 20 in business, 21 in premium economy, and 206 in economy. ch-aviation data shows the aircraft was operated by US Airways from May 2013 until December 2013, when it was transferred to American Airlines.

Sun Group said the aircraft is the first of eight A330s Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to receive between September 2026 and April 2027. The airline expects its fleet to reach 33 aircraft by the end of 2026.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways operates a fleet of 21 aircraft, comprising four A320-200Ns, two A321-200s, twelve A321-200NX, two A321-200NX(LR)s, and the single A330-200. It also has commitments for up to forty B787-9s, twenty of which are listed as unfilled orders in Boeing's orders and deliveries data as of August 2026.
