GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (G3, São Paulo Congonhas) has announced that it has failed to reach an agreement with trade unions following two months of talks leaving it no option but to go ahead with the previously announced plan to lay off former Webjet (Rio de Janeiro International) employees. It had originally announced in November that it would lay off 850 Webjet workers following the shutdown of the low-cost carrier almost immediately following its acquisition by Gol. A local court in Rio de Janeiro ruled in December that Gol would have to retain all employees or pay them compensation.
