airBaltic (BT, Riga) plans to cut between 500 and 700 positions at its Riga, Vilnius, and Tallinn Lennart Meri bases as part of its restructuring efforts. The carrier currently employs around 3,000 people. The final number of layoffs has not been set and may change. The range reflects ongoing union consultations on possible reduced-workload arrangements for pilots and cabin crew, as well as a new organisational structure which is expected to be defined by mid-October.

The announcement comes amid airBaltic's Chapter 11 restructuring and the preceding new business plan, which aims to strengthen its financial stability.
