Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) expects that its A220-300 featuring 160 seats will be certified in 2028, Airbus Europe Region president and commercial head Johan Pelissier stated. He added that more than a third of all potential customers are interested in the higher-density option. AirAsia is expected to be the launch customer for the aircraft’s new cabin configuration of 160 all-economy class seats. The additional capacity is gained by placing an extra overwing exit on each side of the aircraft.
