Mammoth Freighters inducted its first B777-200LR for passenger-to-freighter conversion at STAECO's facility at Qingdao Jiaodong airport in China on October 15, 2026, launching its first Asian conversion line.

The aircraft, N60VL (msn 39254), is owned by Jetran and was previously operated by Air India as VT-AEI and Delta Air Lines as N708DN, ch-aviation data shows. The Chinese newspaper Qingdao Daily reported that the conversion into a B777-200LR(MF) is expected to take approximately 200 days.

Mammoth selected STAECO as its Chinese conversion partner in July 2026 and plans to open a second line there in early 2027. Its conversion network, which also includes Fort Worth Alliance in the US and Manchester in the UK, is planned to accommodate up to nine production lines.

The US Federal Aviation Administration certified Mammoth's B777-200LR(MF) conversion in April 2026. The first completed aircraft was delivered to Jetran in August for eventual operation by DHL Air (D0, Nottingham East Midlands).

Jetran has more than two dozen B777-200LR(MF)s on order, including 13 earmarked for DHL Express and five for Qatar Airways. Separately, Ethiopian Airlines has contracted to convert two B777-200LRs from its existing fleet, Jetran president Kevin Casey told industry outlet FreightWaves in April.
