Southern Airways Express (9X, Memphis International) is set to begin operations in May with plans to operate out of general aviation airports close to Memphis, speculated to be Olive Branch in Mississippi and General DeWitt Spain Airport, a civil, public airport located five miles (8 km) northwest of Memphis’ central business district. Based on a similar business model to Ultimate Air Shuttle (Cincinnati Lunken), the company was founded by Memphis attorney, Stan Little, with plans to use “10 corporate jets” to serve “eight cities in the South, with five of those destinations served non-stop from the Memphis area.” According to Little, Southern Airways Express will "fly between secondary, executive airports so as not to incur parking fees or require TSA Security checkpoints." The company will hold a press conference on April 22 to disclose its planned route network.
