Hainan Airlines (HU, Haikou) is planning to completely rebrand its subsidiary, West Air (China) (PN, Chongqing), as a domestic low-cost carrier (LCC) with part of the airline's operations having already been transformed. According to Hainan president, Wang Yingming, the move is aimed at better positioning West Air in the Western Chinese market and in the long run, will involve increasing its fleet to 100 aircraft, the development of its own IT systems and the expansion of its ancillary revenue sources.
