Asian Express Airline (Tajikistan) (TXP, Dushanbe) has been granted its Air Operators Certificate while at the same time has had its provisional summer schedule approved by the Tajik Civil Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport. Asian Express intends to use its three A320-200s, four ARJ100s and an ARJ85 for use on flights to Russia, Europe and the UAE. The airline is a local initiative and forms part of Tajik Contra Group Holdings; a consortium whose interests include the Kont Investment Bank and the Asian Express Central Bus Terminal situated in down-town Dushanbe. Some consternation over the carrier's planned European routes has arisen following a recent warning by Tajik aviation supremo, Suhrob Jouryaev, that should Tajikistan's crisis-ridden aviation sector fail a scheduled ICAO safety audit in November, all Tajik carriers would be banned from flying within the European Union. Asian Express also wet-leases some of its aircraft to Qeshm Airlines (QB, Tehran Mehrabad) in Iran.
