B&H Airlines (Sarajevo) has become the latest ex-Yugoslavian carrier to seek out a rich strategic partner after Jat Airways (Belgrade Nikola Tesla), Croatia Airlines (OU, Zagreb Franjo Tuđman) and Adria Airways (Ljubljana). According to Federal Minister for Transport and Communication, Mr Enver Bijedić, talks have been held with several potential investors, listed as either airlines or tour operators, though none of them have been mentioned by name. Airline CEO, Amir Jažić, says that while the airline is operating normally, a strategic partner would solve all of its problems. “The solution is for someone to purchase us. That would be best for all. This way I doubt we can survive another year. B&H Airlines can’t compete against the large number of airlines which have taken over our flights”, he said. Despite all of its problems, B&H Airlines has remained relatively solvent posting a small profit and settling all its debts. Since the collapse of a previous relationship with Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport), B&H has also been courted by Buraq Air (UZ, Tripoli Mitiga), Tarhan Air (Istanbul Atatürk) and AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International).
