AirAsia Zest (Manila Ninoy Aquino International) is to be controlled by AirAsia Philippines (Manila Ninoy Aquino International) shortly if the Filipino congress approves an application from the owners of both carriers allowing Philippines AirAsia to acquire another 2% of voting rights in Zest Air (which will also officially be rebranded AirAsia Zest from October 21). Philippines AirAsia already owns 85% economic interest in AirAsia Zest but currently only controls 49% of voting rights. The two carriers are working together very closely already and have received approval from Filipino authorities to operate flights on behalf of each other. AirAsia Zest operates 11 A320-200s and one A319-100. Philippines AirAsia currently has two A320-200s.
