Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen) has signed a purchase agreement with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for seventy Boeing 737NG and 737 MAX aircraft. Valued at CNY20billion (USD3.28billion), orders are scheduled to begin delivery from 2016 onwards. Formed in 1984 as China's first joint venture between CAAC (China) (Beijing Capital) and a municipal government, Xiamen Airlines started services in 1985 with two B737-200s serving three cities. The carrier has grown into China's sixth largest carrier serving 218 domestic routes and 26 international and regional routes. Xiamen Airlines' fleet now consists of 100 aircraft namely seventeen B737-700s, seventy-seven B737-800s and six B757-200s.
