Jambojet (JM, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) has set April 1, 2014 as its definitive launch date. In its press release, the Kenya Airways (KQ, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) subsidiary said initial Low Cost operations would include flights from Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta to Kisumu, Eldoret and Mombasa. Ticket prices will start from roughly KES3'000 (USD35) one way.

Previous news reports had pointed to Kenya Airways supplying Jambojet with a fleet of B737-300s.

Additional domestic and regional destinations are to be added at a later stage. The Kenyan Civil Aviation Authority, in August 2012, granted Jambojet traffic rights to also serve Wajir, Lamu and Malindi domestically and Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Zanzibar, Pemba Wawi, and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Other regional traffic rights include Entebbe, Addis Ababa International, Antananarivo, Bujumbura, Kigali, Hargeisa, Juba, Goma and Kisangani in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Moroni International and Dzaoudzi in the Comoros archipelago.

Jambojet was originally intended to take over its parent's short-haul domestic and regional flights, leaving Kenya Airways to focus on growing its connections between Africa and international markets.
