Jambojet (JM, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta) plans to expand its regional network with new flights to Dar es Salaam and the resumption of services to Entebbe by early 2027, as part of a broader fleet growth strategy aimed at increasing capacity and entering new markets, Managing Director and CEO Karanja Ndegwa confirmed to ch-aviation.
He confirmed that Jambojet expects two more aircraft in the short term, one by the end of September 2026 and another by March 2027, which will support the launch of the Entebbe and Dar es Salaam routes.
This follows the arrival at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta from Canada of the low-cost carrier's eleventh DHC-8-Q400 on April 3, following a 23-hour ferry flight from Goose Bay, via Reykjavik Keflavik, Exeter, Malta International, Aswan, and Djibouti. The 14-year-old 5Y-JXP (msn 4372) leased from Chorus Aviation was immediately deployed on domestic routes, ADS-B data confirmed.
The Entebbe route will mark a resumption of services suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, after the airline made its international debut with the route in 2018. Currently, Jambojet's only international route connects Mombasa with Zanzibar in Tanzania.
The additional aircraft has boosted operational capacity by 11% and has also enabled increased domestic frequencies, including to Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, and Ukunda/Diani Beach.
As previously reported, Jambojet aims to grow its fleet to 20 aircraft over five years.
