Chimoré airport, located in the central Bolivian department of Cochabamba, has reopened following a USD36 million upgrade exercise that has redeveloped the rural aerodrome into an international airport.

Among the new features it has are a 4,000m long primary runway, a 5,000sqm passenger terminal and a 3,000sqm cargo terminal.

Following its official reopening by President Evo Morales on Saturday, October 17, BoA - Boliviana de Aviación (OB, La Paz El Alto) announced it would begin scheduled services to the airfield beginning later next month, provided all certification procedures have been completed.
