Globalia Corporación, parent firm to Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca), has acquired Spanish operator Aeronova (X5, Valencia Manises) for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1996, Aeronova was majority-owned by the Suñer Group with 52.53% with another 34.95% stake in the hands of GM Kapital SL. Having registered a loss of EUR380,000 (USD410,000) for its 2014 financial year, the shareholders sought various means to recapitalize the airline culminating in its sale this year.

Aeronova currently operates an ATR 42-300 and four Swearingen Aircraft SA-227 Metroliners on passenger and cargo charter flights. It has also considered entering the scheduled services sector in partnership with local tour operators.
