Volotea (V7, Barcelona El Prat) has taken delivery of its first A319-100 - EI-FMT (cn 2213) - following a hand-over ceremony at Toulouse Blagnac on Thursday, March 10.

On lease from AerCap, the aircraft is the first Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) aircraft in the Spanish LCC's fleet with three more - EI-FMU (cn 2122), EI-FML (cn 2240), and EI-FMY (cn 2253) - due to arrive by early June.

Given difficulties in securing additional aircraft of the type, Volotea is gradually transitioning away from its current fleet of nineteen B717-200s in favour of the more readily available A319s.

As previously reported, Volotea's A319s will be based out of Nantes initially with future airframes to be placed at Bordeaux Mérignac, Palermo International, Toulouse Blagnac, and Venice Marco Polo.
