Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) has outlined plans to deploy its fleet of B747-400s on domestic German flights with effect from November 1 onwards.
Given increased demand on the Frankfurt International-Berlin Tegel route, brought on by the demise of rival carrier Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel), Lufthansa said it would use its B747-400s to replace existing A320 Family jets on more than sixty rotations.
At present, Lufthansa uses its thirteen B747-400s on regular services to the United States, Canda, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, China, South Korea, Brazil, Japan, and Iran.
Lufthansa has also announced frequency and capacity increases for the routes from Munich to both Cologne/Bonn and Hamburg that have already been dropped by rival Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) given the latter's financial difficulties.
