Alitalia (AZA, Rome Fiumicino) has again cut its network from Milan Malpensa on March 28 when it has transferred its routes to Bari, Catania, Tirana and Tunis to subsidiary Air One (AP/Rome Fiumicino) and has given up its routes from its former hub at Malpensa to Algiers, Istanbul Ataturk, Kiev Borispol, Sao Paulo Guarulhos, Sofia, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion and Tripoli Intl. Alitalia will concentrate on flights from Milan Linate in the future, its only remaining routes from Malpensa are to Cairo, Miami, Moscow Sheremetyevo, New York JFK, Rome Fiumicino and Tokyo Narita. It has also entered into bilateral codeshare agreements with Bulgaria Air (FB/Sofia) for Italy-Bulgaria services, also ensuring it can still offer Milan Malpensa-Sofia services and with Etihad Airways (EY/Abu Dhabi) for connections to the Africa, Asia, Australia and Middle East. In addition, Alitalia has started codesharing on Darwin Airline (0D/Lugano) services from Foggia to Milan Malpensa, Palermo and Turin as well as from Rome Fiumicino to Lugano and Rimini. In addition, Alitalia now codeshares on all Air Italy (I9/Milan Malpensa) domestic services, Air Italy also put its code on Verona-Rome Fiumicino services operated by Alitalia. Alitalia is planning to place an order for additional 20 100 seater regional jets and has started talks with Bombardier, Embraer and Sukhoi.
