Thai VietJetAir to be an all Boeing airline by 2024
07.03.2023 - 05:30 UTCThai VietJetAir (VZ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is preparing to radically restructure both its network and fleet as it moves to phase out its Airbus aircraft and bring in Boeing planes while also switching from a domestic to international focus.
Speaking at Routes Asia 2023 recently, CEO Woranate Laprabang said revenue increased by 100% in 2022 and he expects to see a similar result this year. Already, the low-cost carrier is pivoting away from its traditional Thai domestic market, with Thai VietJet also now flying to Viet Nam, Japan, China, Cambodia, Singapore, and Taiwan. Nonetheless, currently nine out of the airline's top ten busiest routes (when measured by available seat kilometres (ASKs) and flight frequencies) are domestic, with only one international route - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi - Da Nang, coming in at eighth place on both metrics. However, Woranate expects ASKs on international sectors to increase by 35% this year, and 300% when the full network restructuring is completed later this decade.

Switzerland's L'Odyssey to launch in late 2Q22
26.05.2022 - 11:36 UTCL’Odyssey (Geneva) is planning to launch as a premium-focused virtual carrier in late June 2022, operating scheduled flights out of Geneva with a Saab 340B chartered from Latvia's RAF-Avia (MTL, Riga).
The Swiss virtual carrier plans to operate the following routes out of Geneva:
- Toulon (4x weekly starting on June 30),
- Deauville (2x weekly starting on July 1),
- Bergerac (weekly starting on July 2), and
- Dinard (weekly starting on July 2).
L'Odyssey will also operate 2x daily from Deauville from London City starting on July 2.
The airline is a subsidiary of AL!JFR-o. It briefly operated in summer 2021 using a Cessna Aircraft Company Citation 525A, D-ILUI (msn 525A-04465), chartered from Swiss-based private charter company DALaviation.
RAF-Avia's only Saab 340B, YL-RAE (msn 340B-225), has been parked at Örebro since February 18, 2022. The airline also operates one ATR72-200(F), one ATR72-500(F), and one Saab 340A(F), the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows.
