Buffalo Airways (J0, Yellowknife) is planning to begin B737 charter operations in summer 2022 and has already acquired its first B737-300(SF) in the form of 2-ESKA (msn 23512), General Manager Mikey McBryan has said.

The 35.5-year-old converted freighter was last operated by Swiftair (WT, Madrid Barajas) through 2016. It is currently at Bournemouth, undergoing maintenance with its previous owner, European Aviation. It will be re-registered as C-FBAE once in Canada and is expected to ferry to Yellowknife for final maintenance by mid-June 2022.

Buffalo Airways specialises in cargo and passenger charter services in Canada's far north. The airline's fleet comprises a mix of older aircraft types, comprising four DC-3s, two C-46s, four Lockheed Electras, six Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 90/100s, two Beech (twin piston) Barons, two Turbo Commanders, one Cessna (twin piston) 310, four Canadair CL-215s, and eight AT802s operated on behalf of the government of the Northwest Territories. It is one of two remaining commercial operators of the L-188, alongside fellow Canadian carrier Air Spray (1967).
