ASL Aviation Holdings has ordered ten incremental B737-800(BCF)s from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) with options for a further ten.
"This new order is an important element of our fleet renewal programme, and we are delighted to expand our partnership with Boeing on the B737-800BCF. The B737-800BCF offers increased reliability and performance, and equally its lower fuel burn reduces our environmental footprint," Chief Executive Dave Andrew said.
Conversions are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2023 and will take place at STAECO's facilities at Jinan airport and at Boeing's own site at London Gatwick.
The new order follows a 2019 commitment for ten B737-800(BCF)s with another ten options, which were later firmed up. The ch-aviation fleets module shows that the holding has so far inducted eighteen B737-800(BCF)s operated by its following subsidiaries:
- two ex-Ryanair aircraft by ASL Airlines Ireland (ABR, Dublin International),
- ten aircraft (eight ex-Ryanair and two ex-Guizhou Airlines) by ASL Airlines Belgium (3V, Liège),
- four aircraft (three ex-Ryanair and one ex-Pegasus Airlines) by ASL Airlines France (5O, Paris CDG), and
- two aircraft (one ex-Ryanair and one ex-Aeroméxico) by ASL's 45%-owned Thai subsidiary K-Mile Asia (8K, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi).
Deliveries of all twenty units from the initial batch are scheduled to complete in early 2023. The holding said that the newly ordered B737-800(BCF)s would be placed with its Irish, French, Belgian, and Thai units as well.
ASL Airlines Ireland also operates four B737-800(SF)s.
