Southern Airways Express (9X, Memphis International) has received its first S340B from Miami-based turboprop specialist lessor Jetstream Aviation Capital, representing the first 30-seater type to be added to the fleet.

N679PA (msn 340B-345) was delivered on March 30 and is the first of two Saab 340Bs to be leased from Jetstream, the other being N334CJ (msn 340B-334), ch-aviation fleets data reveals.

The Saab (Sweden) aircraft initially will be operated in the Hawaiian islands by Southern Airways Express subsidiary Mokulele Airlines (MHO, Kona).

A leading commuter carrier in the nine-seater market segment, Southern Airways Express also operates a fleet comprising Cessna (single turboprop) 208 Caravans, Beech (twin turboprop) Super King 200s, and PC-12s. It claims to be the US’s largest operator of Cessna Caravans on scheduled passenger services. It also has 20 electric Regent Craft (North Kingstown) Seagliders on order.
