Royal Jordanian (RJ, Amman Queen Alia) will divert some flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Maastricht in July in response to the airport’s call to airlines to reduce capacity to relieve congestion at the embattled Dutch airport.

Pending the availability of slots at Maastricht, flights affected are those on July 13, 20, and 27, Sales & Marketing Executive Philip Jabroer told Dutch media. Travellers arriving at Maastricht will be transported to Schipol by bus, if needed.

Royal Jordanian already flies cargo to Maastricht.

The airline was not immediately available for comment.

Staffing shortages in Amsterdam, the UK, and Canada have caused bottlenecks in recent weeks, seeing Schipol cancel 30% of traffic amid soaring travel demand.
