Lynx Air (Calgary) has announced its expansion into the international market with the addition of flights to Orlando International, Los Angeles International, Phoenix Sky Harbor, and Las Vegas Harry Reid in the United States due this winter. At present, the Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier's network covers 10 large metropoles across Canada.

Orlando will be Lynx's first US destination, with 4x weekly flights taking off from Toronto Pearson on January 27, 2023, the airline said in a statement.

Other services will be as follows:

  • 3x weekly from Calgary to Phoenix starting on February 7, 2023;
  • 3x weekly from Calgary to Los Angeles on February 16, 2023; and
  • 4x weekly from Calgary to Las Vegas on February 24, 2023.

At that point, Lynx will be operating 5,292 seats weekly to and from the US from its Toronto and Calgary hubs.

"With winter approaching, we know Canadians love to travel south in search of warmer weather. We are thrilled to be offering an ultra-affordable option to four of the most popular sun destinations in the United States," commented Chief Executive Officer Merren McArthur.

"Lynx's expansion to the US is a strong indication of their confidence in Calgary and that the future of air travel is bright. Their new routes provide Calgarians even more choice to visit desirable destinations south of the border," said Rob Palmer, the airport's Vice President, Commercial, Strategy & Chief Financial Officer.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Lynx Air operates a fleet of six B737-8s, leased from Aergo Capital and SMBC Aviation Capital respectively.
