Over a year after its certification, Air Atlanta Europe (CT, Malta International) launched revenue cargo operations on October 20, 2022.

The Maltese airline's first B747-400(BDSF), 9H-AKA (msn 27899), was retired by sister carrier Air Atlanta Icelandic (CC, Reykjavik Keflavik) on October 16, 2022. AirNav Radarbox ADS-B data shows that following re-registration in Malta, the aircraft resumed operations four days later. Commercially, it continues to operate under a wet-lease commitment with Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) on the various routes out of Jeddah International to Europe and Africa. The airline has filed for US approval to deploy the aircraft between Jeddah and New York JFK but as of November 2, 2022, has yet to receive the go-ahead.

9H-AKA joins Air Atlanta's Europe fleet of three passenger-configured B747-400s, all of which were retired at the end of the 2022 Hajj season in August and are currently in storage - two at Kemble and one at Jeddah airport.

The Icelandic carrier operates a further two B747-400(BCF)s, five B747-400(BDSF), and six B747-400FSCD, as well as three more inactive B747-400s and one B747-400M, the ch-aviation fleets module shows. Despite the airline's ambitions to achieve a 50/50 split between cargo and passenger operations, the former are currently dominant in its business model.
