Kalitta Air (K4, Detroit Willow Run) retired the last of its B767-300ER(BDSF)s at the end of October 2022, six months behind schedule, and has since leased all six owned units of the type to DHL Express, Cargo Facts has reported.

N763CK (msn 26233) operated the type's last scheduled revenue flight on October 29, flying from New York JFK to Cincinnati International on behalf of DHL. It later flew for maintenance to Oscoda on October 30 and back to Cincinnati on November 3, and has been stored there since then, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.

The aircraft was the last of a once nine-strong fleet of B767 freighters operated by the cargo specialist, which included one B767-300ER(BCF) (under a CMI deal with DHL, retired by June 2022 and since redelivered to DHL Air) and eight -300(ERBDSF)s. Out of the latter, six are owned by Kalitta Air and have been leased out to DHL: three have been placed under a CMI deal with ABX Air, one with 21 Air, and the other two remain in maintenance and have yet to be re-inducted by DHL. The other two aircraft were operated by Kalitta Air under a CMI deal with DHL and were redelivered to DHL Air earlier this year.

Following the retirement of the B767s, Kalitta Air plans to focus on larger freighters. Its fleet comprises ten B747-400(BCF), one B747-400ER, one B747-400ERF, thirteen B747-400FSCD, and five B777-200Fs. The airline plans to add at least seven B777-300(ER)(SF)s and will be the type's launch customer.
