Porter Airlines (P3, Toronto Billy Bishop City Centre) has taken delivery of the first two of fifty E195-E2s due from Embraer, with another three expected in the run-up to the New Year.

The Canadian regional airline is the North American launch customer of the 146-seater E195-E2. The airline intends to use the aircraft to open up the North American market, including the Canadian West Coast, southern US, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

In a statement, Porter Airlines said the aircraft would initially be deployed from Toronto Pearson, with Halifax, Montréal Trudeau, and Ottawa International also seeing new services with the E195-E2.

“The official delivery of these aircraft is the beginning of a new era for Porter,” commented president and Chief Executive Officer Michael Deluce. “The E195-E2 enables us to reach across the continent, beyond our Eastern Canada roots [...]. The first planes are ready to fly to Canada later this month before going into regular service in February.”

Porter Airlines has orders with Embraer for up to 100 of the type: 50 firm commitments and 50 purchase rights. In 2021, the airline ordered thirty of the jets, with purchase rights for a further 50, with all options exercised. A firm order for a further 20 aircraft followed in 2022.
