Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has issued a Request for Proposals for the wet lease of an unspecified number of A330 or B777 widebodies for Hajj charters to Saudi Arabia.

The Indonesian flag carrier plans to wet lease the aircraft starting on May 24 through August 2, 2023. It will deploy them on flights connecting various Indonesian cities with both Jeddah International and Madinah. Garuda did not outline any specific requirements in the call, except for limiting the bids to aircraft manufactured in 1997 or later. It is "preferred" that the aircraft are capable of operating the flights without technical stops. Only airlines holding a valid AOC are eligible to bid.

Garuda Indonesia issued an RFP for Hajj charters in mid-February 2023. It did not reply to ch-aviation's query on whether the current RFP is incremental or rather a repeated attempt to find operators following an unsuccessful earlier tender. Compared to the February tender, the current RFP is less specific regarding aircraft types and allows for bids with older aircraft.

The Indonesian flag carrier plans to also deploy six in-house B777-300(ER)s and nine A330s on the Hajj charters.
