Taiwan's China Airlines firms eight B787-9 options
10.05.2023 - 18:51 UTCChina Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) has firmed eight B787-9 options to bring its total order for the type to 24 aircraft.
While deliveries of the first aircraft under the August 2022 deal will begin in 2025, the options are for deliveries starting in 2026. China Airlines expects all 24 aircraft to be in place by the end of 2028. The airline said it has the option to convert some of the aircraft into B787-10s, subject to demand.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows the Taiwanese carrier operates three generations of widebody aircraft. Twenty-two A330-300s are used predominantly on short- and medium-haul routes in North-East and South-East Asia, and are 15.2 years old on average. They are poised to be replaced by the B787-9s. Ten B777-300(ER)s are 8 years old on average, while fourteen A350-900s are 5.8 years old on average.

Taiwan's EVA Air signs up for a further five B787-9s
14.03.2023 - 21:45 UTCEVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) will acquire another five B787-9s in a direct deal with Boeing (BOE, Washington National), taking the manufacturer's tally of ordered but undelivered B787s to over 600 aircraft.
The Taiwanese carrier already operates four B787-9s and six B787-10s and has a further four B787-9s and seven B787-10s on order with Boeing. The new order takes the future EVA Air B787 fleet size to 26. The airline said deliveries from the latest order would happen between 2025 and 2027. Boeing declined to comment on the order to ch-aviation.
According to ch-aviation schedules data, EVA Air uses its existing B787s to operate scheduled flights from Taipei to Amsterdam Schiphol, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Brisbane International, Chengdu Shuangliu, Fukuoka, Hong Kong International, Milan Malpensa, Munich, Osaka Kansai, Seattle Tacoma International, Seoul Incheon, Tokyo Narita, and Vienna.
