germanwings (Cologne/Bonn) has confirmed during a press conference regarding its brand relaunch on July 1 that it does not plan to keep the wet-lease agreement with Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) in the long run. As part of the transition of Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) routes from Berlin Tegel, Düsseldorf and Hamburg to germanwings (Cologne/Bonn), it will also start wet-leasing 23 CRJ900s from Eurowings currently operating from Dusseldorf and Hamburg. From October 27, it will wet-lease six CRJ-900s for routes out of Hamburg. germanwings wants to transition to an all-Airbus fleet and expects Eurowings CRJ-900s to be either operating for Lufthansa again or to operate Airbus aircraft on behalf of germanwings in the long run.
