Saurya Airlines (Kathmandu) started commercial operations on Tuesday, November 18, with flights from Kathmandu to Biratnagar. Flights are on-board the carrier's sole aircraft, an ex-Air Nostrum CRJ200 of which a second is expected before year-end.

"We will bring one more CRJ-200 series aircraft within one and half months. Similarly, we are acquiring a 70-seater aircraft within two months," Saurya's marketing director, Mukesh Khanal, told the Republica newspaper.

The airline plans to increase its domestic coverage with flights to Dhangarhi, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa, and Bhadrapur along with chartered mountain flights. Beginning early next year, it also hopes to add flights to Mumbai International, Delhi International, Thiruvananthapuram, Goa Dabolim, and Colombo International.
