Air Madagascar (MD, Antananarivo) will resume operations to China early next year having suspended them in January owing to low profitability.

According to Airline Route, effective February 12, 2017, the Malagasy national carrier will serve Guangzhou 2x weekly using A340-300 equipment. Unlike in previous years where in the flight operated via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, this service will run via St. Denis de la Réunion with a codeshare with Air Austral (UU, St. Denis de la Réunion) expected to be announced in due course.

At present, Air Madagascar has no local traffic rights on the St. Denis de la Réunion-Guangzhou sector and vice versa.
