Uzbekistan Airways (HY, Tashkent International) has announced it will deploy its two B787-8s onto intercontinental services with effect from May 18.

The aircraft, which have been kept on regional European and Asian services since they arrived in August and November of last year, will make their longhaul debut to New York JFK via Riga on May 18. Thereafter, a statement said, they will omit the Latvian stopover with effect from July 27.

The flagship New York JFK route is currently operated 2x weekly using B767-300(ER) equipment.

As previously reported, Uzbekistan Airways has four additional B787-8s on order from Boeing (BOE, Washington National).
