Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) has denied reports in the Portuguese media which claimed it to have inked a deal to acquire a 49% stake in TACV - Cabo Verde Airlines (Praia).

The Icelandic carrier's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Bogi Nils Bogason, told ch-aviation in an emailed statement Icelandair had not acquired the carrier from its owner, the Cape Verde government.

Similarly SATA Air Acores (SP, Ponta Delgada), which was also linked to the deal, has also denied buying TACV equity.

As part of its restructuring of the debt-ridden airline, the Cape Verde government plans to take on a strategic partner for what will be known as TACV Internacional (Praia). The rejuvenated airline will focus on international services leaving inter-island flights to Binter CV (Praia). TACV is slated to end domestic flights by August 1, 2017.
