Emirates (EK, Dubai International) has deferred plans to place a new widebody order this year, the Dubai-based carrier's president, Tim Clark, has confirmed.

Speaking during the Aviation Festival in London this week, Clark told a press conference that a much-anticipated order for either the A350 or B787 was off the table for now.

Earlier this year, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, hinted that a decision could be announced during the upcoming Dubai 2017 Airshow. Emirates had previously committed to an order for fifty A350-900s and twenty A350-1000s from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) only to terminate the contract in June 2014 citing the need to reevaluate its fleet requirements.
