Somon Air (SZ, Dushanbe) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for the acquisition of one B787-8. According to a joint statement, the widebody jet will be delivered during the first quarter of 2018.

Somon Air is a privately-owned Tajik carrier. It currently operates two B737-300s, two B737-800s, and two B737-900(ER)s on scheduled passenger flights throughout Tajikistan as well as to Russia, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, China, Germany, and Kazakhstan. It said it plans to use the B787 to open up new destinations across Europe, the Far East, and the United States.
