Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) will launch weekly A330-200 service from Tenerife Norte to Miami on June 20 and three times daily EMB-195 service between Madrid and Lisbon on September 21. It has given up its Barcelona-Seville and Madrid-Malaga routes earlier this spring and has entered into a wide-ranging codeshare agreement with competitor Spanair (JK/Palma de Mallorca) that allows Air Europa to sell seats on Spanair services from Madrid to Alicante, Almeria, Bilbao, Jerez de la Frontera, La Coruna, Malaga, Menorca, Santiago de Compostela, Valencia and Vigo as well as from Barcelona to Jerez de la Frontera, Malaga and Seville. It has also put its UX code on the daily AeroMéxico (AM/Mexico City) B777-200ER service linking Madrid and Mexico City. Its subsidiary Air Dominicana (ED/Santo Domingo Las Americas) will finally start operations with a single B737-400 on August 1 and operate daily services from Santo Domingo Las Americas to Miami and New York JFK. Air Europa will codeshare on both routes. It has however cut its codeshare agreement with Continental Airlines (CO/Houston Intcl) as of June 1. In other news, Air Europa has also given up plans for a weekly Tenerife Norte-Caracas service.
