Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) is set to launch maiden scheduled services to the new airport in San Vicente in the north-western part of Palawan island, the carrier's branch manager on Palawan, Joel Paredes, has told the Philippine News Agency.

The 7x weekly service to San Vicente out of Angeles City Clark International will be operated by PAL Express (2P, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) under the PAL Express brand, using Dash 8-400 turboprops.

San Vicente airport opened in mid-2017, although at first exclusively for general aviation operations. Following the airport's opening to commercial services later last year, Air Juan Aviation (AO, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) operated charter flights to San Vicente, connecting it with the island's main city Puerto Princesa and Busuanga.

The new airport is located around 40 kilometres away from Taytay, which sees scheduled services by Air Juan. The other larger airport on Palawan is El Nido in the island's extreme north.
