Atlasjet Airlines (Antalya) has wet-leased a B737-400 from Saga Airlines (SGX/Istanbul Ataturk). It had signed a codeshare and cooperation agreement with El Al Israel Airlines (LY/Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) earlier this year and had planned to launch a new Istanbul Ataturk-Tel Aviv Ben Gurion route but has given up such plans after the diplomatic tensions between Israel and Turkey caused by the incident involving Turkish ships being stopped by Israeli forces on their way to Gaza. Atlasjet has signed an agreement with the administration of Northern Cyprus to create a new carrier based in Ercan in 2011 that will become the successor of Cyprus Turkish Airlines (YK/Ercan) that has suspended operations after losing its air operator certificate because of financial difficulties earlier this year. Atlasjet will take a 51% in the new airline. It has taken over some former Cyprus Turkish routes and an ex-KTHY A321-200 in the meantime and has also added other new services: Ankara Esenboga-London Stansted: 3x weekly service Antalya-Ercan: 5x weekly service Antalya-London Stansted: 4x weekly service Antalya-Manchester: weekly service Istanbul Ataturk-Mykonos: 2x weekly seasonal A320-200 service (already launched) Istanbul Ataturk-Sharm el Sheikh: weekly seasonal service Atlasjet has also added a third ex-Swiss (LX/Zurich) A330-200 and is operating the aircraft on behalf of Saudi Arabian Airlines (SV/Jeddah).
