Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) has announced a commitment to purchase five additional B777-Fs from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) during the 2019 Paris Air Show at Paris Le Bourget. Under the contract, which is still subject to finalisation, the five aircraft will deliver in 2020.

"It will increase our B777 freighter fleet by a full 20%, enabling us to further develop our business and offer new customers the chance to experience a truly first-class logistics service. This is an order that will propel our growth and, I firmly believe, confirm us as the leading cargo operator in the world," Akbar al Baker, CEO, Qatar Airways Group, said.

The carrier currently operates five A330-200Fs, two B747-8(F)s, and sixteen B777-200(F)s. It also has orders for five more B777 freighters. According to al Baker, Qatar Airways will start renewing its freighter fleet in 2025.
