Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has signed a Letter of Intent with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the purchase four A330-800s, the carrier's 2Q19 financial statements have revealed.

According to the filings, the aircraft will deliver between 2021 and 2022 with two due in the third and fourth quarters of 2021 respectively while the other two are due during the first and second quarters of 2022 respectively. The jets will be equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000-72 engines.

Garuda also has purchase contracts for fourteen A330-900s deliveries which are due to run from 2019 up to 2022.

According to CAPA, two A330-900s that are destined for Garuda Indonesia Group's low-cost subsidiary, Citilink (QG, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta), are those which were originally due to be placed with defunct Icelandic LCC WOW air (Reykjavik Keflavik) - msn 1870 and 1887 - but never taken up. The two widebody jets will arrive with the LCC in November and December this year ahead of its debut of longhaul flights to Frankfurt International, Germany on December 15, the report said.
